The humble car has changed much over the years and now incorporates more technology than the early space missions to the moon! Things like navigation systems and airbags are all taken for granted now, and yet just a few years ago they were cutting edge technology that people didn't think would catch on.
This has had a trickle down effect, meaning that the increasing numbers of cars and vans now have all manner of this technology like vehicle tracking systems .Meaning that buying a second hand car now does not mean settling for second best.
The most notable technological improvements in today's cars, probably go unnoticed, which are those to do with fuel efficiency in the engines. Of course others, such as air conditioning, heated seats and electric windows are the most obvious.
The latest developments in car technology promise an interesting and exciting future for the car. Some hybrid cars now have something called 'run-flat tyres', where the tyres do not change shape without air in them. There are also amazing developments in self-parking systems. Rear cameras are a feature of some cars already, but with these linked up to an onboard computer system, there is the very real possibility of there soon being a car which will park itself.
Developments in technology within the car industry are carrying on at an amazing pace. Who knows, there may very well soon be a car that can drive itself!
